Advice and deemed service in a cross-border divorce

NBLO was recently involved in a complex multi-jurisdictional divorce.

Our client, a dual national of the US and of Bulgaria, who was currently resident in Bulgaria, sought divorce from his spouse, a Guatemalan citizen. What made this case challenging was the fact that our client’s wife had abruptly left without leaving any contact details and for an undisclosed location. This created issues of service, which it was important to overcome efficiently.

The proceedings are now ongoing, and we expect the court to resolve this case in our client’s favour.
