NBLO Secures Settlement in Software Copyright Infringement Dispute

24 November 2025

NBLO is pleased to announce a successful settlement for a London-based architectural visualisation company in a cross-border copyright infringement dispute with a specialist software developer and supplier operating in Bulgaria, Germany and the Czech Republic.

The claimant alleged that the defendant had used its proprietary software without a valid licence across multiple devices and by several users over a period exceeding one year.

Acting promptly during the pre-action stage, NBLO undertook a detailed factual analysis and established that key parts of the claimant’s allegations lacked evidential foundation or were insufficiently particularised. By narrowing the scope of the dispute and challenging unsupported assertions, NBLO placed the defendant in a significantly stronger negotiating position.

Following targeted negotiations, NBLO secured a settlement that reduced the claimant’s demand by more than 66% and limited any payment obligation to a single device and to future use of the licensed product, representing a substantial saving and a clear commercial win for the client.

Kamen Shoylev and Dragos Iordache led the strategy and negotiations on behalf of the defendant.
