NBLO Successfully Defends Employer in Labour Inspectorate Disputes
11 September 2025NBLO recently achieved a significant success on behalf of a Bulgarian industrial employer in 13 administrative court cases, including appeals before both first-instance and supreme administrative courts. The disputes arose from allegations made by the General Labour Inspectorate, which claimed that our client had employed non-EU nationals without valid work permits and imposed administrative sanctions and fines.
From the outset, we recognised the importance of addressing not only the immediate sanctions but also the broader reputational and regulatory implications for our client. Our legal team developed a defence strategy, combining fact-finding with detailed legal analysis. By carefully examining the Inspectorate’s investigation and presenting expert testimony, we were able to dismantle the allegations of immigration law breaches and demonstrate that no irregularities existed in the client’s employment practices.
While the direct financial impact of the fines was limited, the cases carried potentially serious follow-on consequences for the client’s operations and reputation. Thanks to our knowledge of Bulgarian labour and immigration law, as well as our extensive experience in handling complex disputes, we secured favourable outcomes in all of the proceedings, safeguarding the client’s legal position and public standing.
This case highlights our ability to navigate high-stakes regulatory challenges and to deliver results that go beyond financial measures — ensuring the long-term stability and credibility of our clients’ businesses.
