  • Shoylev, Kamen
  • Year of Qualification: 1999
  • Specialist Areas: International Commercial Litigation, Corporate, Intellectual Property, European Union Law, Cross-border Taxation, Banking and Finance.
  • Kamen is a Bulgarian advokat and a Registered European Lawyer with the General Council of the Bar of England and Wales, who obtained his academic qualification initially through a first degree in law at Cambridge University, England. He has a wide experience in transactional and contentious matters in various business sectors and geographic markets, having lived and worked in Russia, Japan and Saudi Arabia. He is fluent to a native standard in English, and also speaks fluent French, German, Italian and Russian. Kamen is a member of the UK Bar European Group and the Intellectual Property Institute (London).

  • Neshkov, Yordan

  • Specialist Areas: Corporate, Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Insurance, Real Estate.
  • Yordan has substantial experience advising international clients across a range of issues. He began his studies in law at Vienna University after which he transferred to Ruse University, where he gained a Masters in Law.

    Yordan has worked extensively with foreign investors, particularly those in the real estate and infrastructure sectors. He has provided advice to some of the largest German investors in Bulgaria, leaders in car part and electric device production and in retail, to the Bulgarian subsidiary of one of the world's leading HR companies. His corporate experience has seen him advising on the restructuring and acquisition of several of the biggest cable network providers and ISPs in Bulgaria, among others. He is also experienced in dispute resolution (having acted eg for one of Bulgaria's largest insurers) and competition law, and has assisted a number of clients, representing them in front of the Commission for the Protection of Competition.

    He is fluent in and drafts in both English and German and since July 2011 is also qualified to practise as an advocate with the Bar of Berlin, Germany.

  • Krassimira is NBLO's specialist in employment and social security law. She also has substantial experience in corporate law, having advised on the completion of due diligence reports for a number of large foreign clients. She has drafted legal opinions and legal documents for both domestic and foreign clients.

    Her recent work also includes participation in a large complex power plant project.

    Krassimira gained her Masters from Sofia University Kliment Ohridski in 2000. She is fluent in English and conversational in German.

  • Giteva, Dilyana

  • Dilyana was a participant in a Public Interest Law programme at the Columbia University (New York) and participated in drafting the first Bulgarian anti-discrimination statute. She is uniquely positioned to advise employers on adjusting to the new regime and has acted on behalf of claimants in bringing test cases to establish the limits of the new legislation in employment. Dilyana also deals with a considerable amount of property transactions and is one of NBLO's senior advisers in the field.

  • Iordanova, Nadejda
  • Year of Qualification: 1997
  • Specialist Areas: Public Procurement, Construction and Real Estate.
  • Before joining New Balkans Law Office, Nadejda ran an ambitious and highly successful multi-year project for the United States government's foreign aid department in Bulgaria. She has previous experience as a lawyer in Bulgaria and internationally, including time with a construction law barristers' chambers in London. Nadejda teaches at the American University in Bulgaria, at Blagoevgrad.

  • Short Bio

    During his time with the Bulgarian Sports Totalisator, Svetoslav was in charge of coordinating the procedure of the Totalisator's first application for a batch of licences under the Gambling Act of 1999. The process was extremely successful, with all licences applied for being issued despite the State Gambling Commission being very confused about how to exercise its competences under what had been Bulgaria's first Gambling Act.

    In 2001, Svetoslav led the team in charge of preparing and negotiating the contract for the refitting and upgrading of more than 80 petrol stations in the Petrol AD network. Under this multimillion euro agreement, Naftex Engineering AD updated more than 80 stations throughout Bulgaria over a period of more than two years.

    Svetoslav was a part of the legal team supporting the biggest package sale of individual sites in Bulgaria to date, concluded in 2008 between Petrol AD and Lukoil Bulgaria EOOD. Under this contract the ownership of almost 100 fuel stations and the fuel storage depot in Ilientzi, Sofia (the biggest one in Bulgaria) was transferred to Lukoil Bulgaria. In particular, he was responsible for obtaining antitrust clearance by notifying the deal to the Commission for Protection of the Competition and for the process of applying for approval for the sale. He was a key member of the team which produced and negotiated the entire system of contracts between the two companies.

    Between 2008 and early of 2010, Svetoslav supervised the purchases of several aircraft for the purposes of Air Lazur General Aviation from various partners, including Bombardier.

    Since 2008 Svetoslav has supervised the preparation of all model agreements for issuance of Transcard credit cards, including those issued under the brands of JCB and Mastercard.
