Legal services to clients involved in the Bulgarian Market
We have extensive experience in the various mechanisms for the resolution of disputes in Bulgaria, including direct litigation, arbitration and mediation. In particular, we have experience conducting legal proceedings before ordinary Bulgarian courts and Bulgarian arbitration panels (including the Arbitration Court of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sofia and the Sofia Arbitration Court). We have participated in ad-hoc and institutional arbitration procedures before the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris and the Arbitration Courts in Zurich and Stockholm. We also represent clients in pre-litigation and administrative disputes with the Government of Bulgaria and Bulgarian municipal and regional authorities.
We give advice on how to deal with the consequences of fraud generally, including regulatory investigations and potential criminal proceedings. Companies are increasingly frequently having to undertake internal investigations, either for regulatory defence reasons or as a matter of good corporate governance, perhaps following whistle-blower warnings. We advise clients on the operational and strategic aspects of conducting such investigations and cover not only civil fraud, but also white-collar crime and corporate criminal liability. In addition to this, we have experience working on cases involving complicated asset-tracing exercises.
We can also assist clients in debt collection; our most recent practice note on the procedure is available here.
